CASELOAD

The average daily caseload of the Merseyside Probation Area in 2005/6 was:

2,365 Community Rehabilitation Orders
1,276 Community Punishment Orders/Unpaid Work
578 Community Punishment and Rehabilitation Orders
1,396 Licences supervised following release from prison

Over that same 12 months period 7,781 court reports were prepared, to assist Magistrates and Judges in their sentencing decisions.

Discharges and fines are given for less serious crimes, Community Orders for more serious crimes, and prison for the most serious of all.
