BUTLER TRUST AWARDS

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal presented another prestigious Butler Trust Award to staff from Merseyside Probation Trust on 10th March 2009. The areas has now won nine Butler Trust awards over a three year period. This year the award went to the Sefton Tower Prolific Offender Team, a multi-agency team working to target the most prolific offenders in Sefton.

HRH The Princess Royal is Patron of The Butler Trust, an independent charity which recognises the excellence and innovation of people working with offenders in the UK. Through its Annual Award Scheme and Development Programme, the Trust helps to develop effective care for offenders by:

• identifying and promoting excellence and innovation by Prison and Probation Service and criminal justice social work staff, contractors and volunteers;

• developing and disseminating best practice in the care and resettlement of offenders throughout the UK;

• providing professional and personal development opportunities for award-winning staff.
